The Tujiamini Initiative by SportPesa has launched the construction of a new volleyball court in Highrise Estate, Nairobi, led by Gold Category winner Emmanuel Kipkemoi Yegon. Emmanuel, who received KES 1 million through the programme, will develop a modern facility set to benefit hundreds of young people engaged in the Highrise Kenya Volleyball Community, which he founded in 2018.
SportPesa’s Head of Partnerships, Japheth Akhulia, lauded the project as a symbol of the initiative’s growing national impact, noting its role in empowering youth across eight regions. The groundbreaking comes as the Tujiamini and Cheza Dimba regional contests conclude ahead of the national finals.
In the Coast region, two innovators — Kilifi’s Idd Munga and Mombasa’s Elizabeth Muema — were each awarded KES 500,000 as Tujiamini Gold winners. Idd is expanding a tree-planting and community support project in Rabai, while Elizabeth is scaling her crochet skills training initiative aimed at empowering women and youth.
SportPesa praised both winners for driving meaningful community change. The national Tujiamini Awards will soon celebrate outstanding Kenyans transforming their communities through sports, creativity, entrepreneurship and social impact.
