The energy at Kiprugut Chumo Stadium was unmistakable as the 5th edition of the KKK Cup Tournament wrapped up in memorable fashion, crowning Lizbaze FC and Elites FC as the new champions. The tournament, driven by Kericho Senator Aaron Cheruiyot, once again proved its vital role in nurturing grassroots talent and uniting communities through sport.
Lizbaze FC showed grit and composure as they secured a 2–1 win against Belgut’s Raiders FC to lift the men’s title. On the women’s side, Elites FC delivered a commanding performance, scoring five goals against Kapkugerwet FC to clinch the championship with confidence and flair. Their victories underscored the growing talent and competitive spirit thriving in Kericho.
This year’s edition brought together more than 30 teams, including volleyball squads for men and persons living with disabilities, strengthening the tournament’s identity as an inclusive community platform. It offered a stage for athletes from diverse backgrounds, highlighting the transformative power of sport in opening opportunities and shaping future careers.
The tournament received a major boost from SportPesa, which partnered with the organizers to deepen the tournament’s impact. The gaming giant injected KSh 15 million toward prize money and facilitation, while also equipping teams with 52 full sports kits. This support significantly enhanced the professionalism, morale, and preparedness of the participating teams, marking a new chapter in grassroots sports investment.
During the finals, SportPesa’s Head of Partnerships and Sponsorships, Japheth Akhulia, reaffirmed the company’s long-standing commitment to empowering youth and strengthening regional competitions.
